Rumour : APPLE to Land Japan’s and China’s Biggest Carriers For New iPhone

“Two large gaps in Apple‘s iPhone carrier relationships have long been the largest mobile providers in Japan and China, NTT DoCoMo and China Mobile.
Multiple reports today emerging from the far east indicate those holes will be filled shortly after Apple launches the new iPhones next week. A report from Yahoo Japan says the iPhone will be available from DoCoMo 10 days after the reveal, the same date it’s expected to go on sale worldwide. Sina Tech is responsible for the China Mobile story, where an AppleInsider reader provided a translation suggesting the iPhone will at last reach the carrier in November.”

“Apple Inc. (AAPL), the world’s most-valuable company, is near a final agreement to offer its iPhone through the largest mobile carrier in Japan, NTT DoCoMo Inc. (9437), according to people familiar with the situation.”

It is great news except that Apple AAPL has now become known as the nemesis of the S&P 500, its correlation barely existing and half that of Google and the rest.

Looking that the divergence in the chart above, I will try not be superstitious about the new iPhone launch on the 10th of September.

We can perhaps take comfort that this new iPhone is as widely anticipated as all the rest and also, China is going ducky at the moment – as dumb as a duck ?

And I just learned that “More than 400 million Chinese are unable to speak the national language Mandarin, and large numbers in the rest of the country speak it badly, state media said on Thursday “.

Maybe this iPhone will not take off, as the AAPL stock price suggests and the S&P will be saved. As if we do not already have to worry about the taper next ?

AAPL Stock : $464 support. Target $530.
